But truth is, sometimes they might taste a bit bland so you can punch up the flavor in a snap with these three pantry staples:
Lower Sodium Soy Sauce – A few dashes of soy sauce add that terrific umami, “savory” flavor. Add 1/2 teaspoon per 1 cup of soup.
Try with:
- Mushroom Barley
- Beef Vegetable
- Lentil
Low Sodium 100% Vegetable Juice – Veggie juices like V-8 added an extra tomato-y, fresh flavor. Add 1 tablespoon per 1 cup soup.
Try with:
- Minestrone
- Three Bean Soup
- Lentil
- Tomato
- Manhatten Clam Chowder
Lemon or Lime Juice – Tart citrus juice brightens and wakes up the flavors of many canned soups.Add 1/2 teaspoon per 1 cup of soup.
